Queensboro FC will move to MLS Next Pro in 2024

New York City FC has reached an agreement to build its own 25,000-seat stadium in Queens, New York. This agreement not only affects the Major League Soccer club and its secondary team but also the team led by Spanish legend David Villa, Queensboro FC.

According to information published by Territorio MLS, Villa’s team will not join the USL Championship in 2023 as expected and should make its debut on the field in the MLS Next Pro in 2024. Currently, QBFC’s B team competes in the UPSL and players who expected to receive a professional contract next year have already been informed of the changes that are happening at the club.

The reason is that the new stadium design indicates that Queensboro will at some point use the new stadium in New York as home. Therefore, MLS did not want to see their new stadium used in the USL Championship or USL League One, and convinced the club to join MLS Next Pro.

No one from the club confirmed the information but everything indicates that the official announcement should be made in the coming weeks. After the repercussion of the news on social media, Queensboro FC made a statement via its social networks with the following statement:
