The Real Salt Lake is close to sign with an old face. According to Fala Galo, Brazilian website focused on Mineiro, the MLS side is close to set an agreement with Atlético Mineiro/BRA for Jefferson Savarino. The price is around US$ 3.5 million (approximately R$ 14 million) for 40% of the player’s pass. The Brazilian club would still have 20% for future negotiations.
Before finalizing the deal, the Western Conference team needs to negotiate the first spot in the Allocation Order with FC Cincinnati, who currently holds the priority to sign Savarino.
This would be the Venezuelan striker’s second time at Real Salt Lake. Signed from Zulia FC/VEN in 2017, Savarino was one of the team’s main players while in Salt Lake City. He scored 22 goals and made 22 assists in 88 games for the MLS side.
The good performances by the player in the “Monarchs”, drew the attention of Atlético Mineiro, which in January 2020, signed the 25-year-old forward for US$ 1.8 million (approximately R$ 8.9 million) for 60% of the player’s pass.
Despite the good numbers with the Mineiro shirt, 21 goals and 21 assists in 93 games, the player isn’t a starter and is not satisfied with the minutes played. In the current season, Savarino appeared for the club in 16 opportunities.
In addition to Savarino, two other athletes from Atlético Mineiro also followed the same path and are leaving the Brazilian club. Colombian midfielder Dylan Borrero was announced by the New England Revolution and defender Micael has a deal with Houston Dynamo.
In Utah, the striker from Venezuela arrives to be the main signing this season. In the current season, the team is in the sixth position of the Western Conference with 13 points conquered in nine games.
The team’s next game takes place this Saturday (30) against LA Galaxy, at Rio Tinto Stadium.
