After lying low for the majority of the time during this secondary transfer window, the New York Red Bulls made two movements in order to improve their roster in 2023
In a surprising move, the New York Red Bulls have announced this Wednesday (2) the signing of Colombian striker Jorge Hurtado, 19-year-old, on a loan basis from Watford, currently in the English Championship. The acquisition of Hurtado comes as a boost to the Red Bulls’ attacking options as they strive to bolster their squad for the ongoing Major League Soccer season.

New York Red Bulls Sign Jorge Hurtado
The news of the New York Red Bulls signing Colombian striker Jorge Hurtado was first broken by Gustavo Guimarães from Território MLS jointly with Daniel Rebain from Area Sports Network.
The New York Red Bulls are working to finalize the loan of Jorge Hurtado from Watford.
Deal is almost done and pending approval from the league per source.
Hurtado spent this year with Independiente Medellin where he played 10 games with no goals.

Prior to his loan move to the New York Red Bulls, Jorge Hurtado had returned to Colombia at the beginning of the season on loan to Independiente Medellín. The striker was called up to represent Colombia’s National U20 team at the FIFA U20 World Cup, in Argentina, back in May.
According to the journalist Pipe Serra from Win Sports TV, Hurtado has qualities but has not found the back of the net too many times thought his career because playtime lack. “Cabezas (Hurtado) is very good in attack, but he didn’t have many minutes. He lacks a goal for that”, adds.
A much needed right back for the New York Red Bulls
Earlier this week, the New York Red Bulls made another addition to their squad by signing Colombian right-back, Juan José Mina, from Deportivo Cali. The 19-year-old defender’s arrival marks a strategic move by the Red Bulls to strengthen their defensive options and add depth to their roster.
Pipe Serra adds about the defender: “Mina is fast and has very good crosses, but he’s not that good at defending”, says.
With Kyle Duncan as the only specialist right-back in the squad, the club had been relying on winger Cameron Harper to fill in the position in times of need.
