Maintained in the elite of Portuguese football, Estoril Praia had Lucas Áfrico and Major League Soccer fan, as a starter in the journey that marked the farewell to the 22/23 season. The Brazilian, who has played for important clubs in Brazil and Portugal, such as Corinthians, Santos, Marítimo and, now, in Estoril, has confirmed that he is a fan of Major League Soccer, the elite of football in the United States.
“The growth of football in the United States is evident. The clubs, the organization of the league, the games are becoming more and more competitive. Teams like Atlanta, NYCFC, Seattle, are teams that face the big leagues in Europe, without a doubt. I really like to follow and learn from football and MLS helps me a lot in that”, said the Brazilian.
Living his second spell at Estoril, Lucas Áfrico was on the team that made history at the club with the best start of all time in Portugal’s top league. Being one of the great pillars of defense. Kept in the elite of national football, Lucas makes a positive assessment of these two years at the club.
“Of course, we could achieve a little more this season, but we are happy with the permanence. It was a season in which I had to have a lot of resilience on an individual and collective level. I’m happy and I make a positive balance, yes. I am very grateful for this club, for the people and, of course, for all the fans”, he concluded.
