LAFC took a one-game advantage in the best of 3 against the Canadian foes, which, after six head-to-head games played in 2023, won’t go away.

Despite the 5-2 win, LAFC has to head into Vancouver for a showdown against Vanni Sartini and its players, who are poised to bring the series back to LA for an eventual game 3. All it would take is a penalty kick decision following a tie to do so. A second tie a few days later at the opponent’s house would send the MLS Cup champs packing in front of its supporters.
