Grêmio’s defender Cuiabano has been under the radar of several MLS teams.
Another fullback may be on his way to Major League Soccer from Brazil. New York City, Toronto FC, and Houston Dynamo, all clubs from Major League Soccer, are interested in signing the player from Gremio, Luiz Suarez’s team, sources close to Cuiabano confirmed to Território MLS.
The 20-year-old full-back has drawn significant interest from MLS clubs, but nothing concrete has emerged yet; the expectation is for discussions to intensify after the end of the Brazilian season. Houston, which has Artur and Micael from Brazil, is still in the playoffs and has a chance at making it to the MLS Cup finals should they win against LAFC in the Western Conference final game this weekend in LA.
Cuiabano is under contract with Grêmio until the end of the 2024 season, and there’s a possibility of the player being loaned out or acquired permanently.
Having played for national youth teams, Cuiabano has always stood out in the Southern Brazil club’s youth system but has yet to establish himself in Grêmio’s senior team. Injuries have prevented the player from securing a spot in the starting lineup.
The interest isn’t recent, and there have been inquiries at other times.
