Dylan Borrero helped Atletico Mineiro to win the Brasileirao Serie A and Copa do Brasil in 2021.
The New England Revolution is close to signing 21-year-old Colombian midfielder Dylan Borrero, from Atlético Mineiro/BRA. The values are around $4 million dollars and the player’s contract with the MLS club will run until 2025. Sources confirm to our reporter Gustavo Lopes.
Borrero became known in Brazilian soccer for being a very good player in individual plays. A fast player with great dribbling, he could be the ideal player to replace Tajon Buchanan, who left the New England Revolution last year to join Club Brugge/BEL.
Dylan Felipe Borrero Caicedo is from Palmira, Colombia. Made his professional debut in 2019 for Santa Fe, tradicional side from Colombia. In 2020, at the request of coach Rafael Dudamel, Dylan joined Atletico Mineiro. The coach ended up being fired two months later, which hampered the player’s adaptation at the Brazilian club.
After a 2020 below expectations, Dylan tried to resume good soccer in 2021 and managed to help Mineiro win the Brasileirao Serie A and Copa do Brasil. Due to the high number of foreigners in the Brazilian squad, Dylan did not receive a large number of minutes but was very important in the derby against America Mineiro in the Brasileirao Serie A.
Many Mineiro fans claim that the player’s best moment in the team was in early 2022, when Antonio “El Turco” Mohammed (former Monterrey/MEX) was announced as the team’s head coach. But again, due to the number of international players like the Chilean Eduardo Vargas who recently renewed his contract, Borrero would not receive many minutes this season.
Borrero’s contract with Atletico goes until December of 2024.
