Thiago Santos played for FC Dallas in 2020.
The Brazilian midfielder Thiago Santos, former FC Dallas, was relegated with Gremio/BRA to Brasileirao Serie B on Thursday Night(9). Thiago was Gremio’s second signing this season, the midfielder played in 30 games and scored just 2 goals. After spending the 2020 season at FC Dallas and taking the team to the playoffs, Thiago was sold to Gremio on March 31, the Brazilian was Gremio’s second signing, which also has internationals Rafinha and Douglas Costa.
Despite the great squad and a great state championship made at the beginning of the year, the team that does not experience bad management problems managed to accumulate just 43 points in 38 games and finished in 17th place in the Brazilian Serie A Championship. In the last round, Thiago Santos and Gremio would face the Brazilian Champion of 2021, Atletico Mineiro, needing to win and defeats by Juventude/BRA and Cuiaba/BRA, defeats that did not happen. That’s Gremio third relegation in it’s history(1992, 2004 and now 2021). The team who had Felipe Scolari as one of it’s coaches during the year, won the Copa Libertadores in 2017, the Brazilian Cup in 2018 and was a Runner Up of the Brazil Cup in 2020.
Besides the bad year for the team, Thiago was considered one of the best players in the whole season being pretty consistent. He was also one of Gremio best players in the game against Atletico. Now, we wait to see the club and player decision for next year.
