Orlando City reached an agreement for left-winger Facundo Torres
According to Territorio MLS sources, Orlando City reached an agreement for Uruguayan Facundo Torres, 21, who was currently at Penarol/URU. The official announcement will be made shortly, once the work visa is completed. He had his name linked with several Brazilian and European teams but nothing as concrete as the proposal coming from the United States.
The journalist Daniel Bocatto, from ESPN Brasil, informed that the transfer values are around US$ 7 million, with more than US$ 1 million being just for incentives and goals.
Facundo’s main characteristics are his skill, technique and his ability to build plays. Another point that draws attention is his versatility to play in more than one position in the final third, usually Torres plays on the left wing, but he has also played as a second striker. Similar characteristics to Nani, the Portuguese winger who recently left Orlando and signed with Venezia/ITA. With ten goals and eight assists in thirty-three matches for Uruguay’s yellow and black, Facundo received his first call-ups to the National Team during Qualifications for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
This sign goes along with Orlando’s intention of rebuilding it’s roster with a “younger” group of players. This includes not renewing the contract with Nani. This decision was made jointly between Head Coach Oscar Pareja and people from the Front Office.
