The Brazilian Max Alves, attacking midfielder, signed today with the Colorado Rapids. A Flamengo/BRA player, he spent the 2021 season in Cuiaba/BRA of the first Brazilian division due to a loan
The negotiation was confirmed by journalist Vene Casagrande, from O Globo/BRA. Max who is only 20 years old will sign a 4 year contract running through December 2026, details have not been revealed but what is expected is that Max will not occupy a young Designated Player player.
The Colorado Rapids will pay approximately $1,000,000 for 80% of player rights. $750,000 will be paid out later this year, while the remainder will be paid in mid-year 2022. Flamengo will continue with 20% of the player’s rights.
The Western Conference Leader for the 2021 regular season expects all paperwork to be completed before officially announcing the player. The team will make its debut in the Concacaf Champions League 2022 against Cremas from Guatemala, dates not set.
Max arrived at Flamengo in 2020, after winning some chances in the professional team in 2021 he was loaned to Cuiaba, which was making its debut in the first Brazilian division. Playing as an attacking midfielder, he participated in 21 games and scored 1 goal.
Alves played with Jose Italo, left-back, who signed with the New England Revolution this week.
